CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (CHRO)

The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is currently accepting applications for a Full Time Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to join our Executive Team, reporting to the CEO.

We are:

  • Two corporations with three Hospital sites + one integrated management team = Wellington Health Care Alliance
  • Located in Wellington County where staff have the luxury of choosing to live in either a rural or urban setting
  • A brand-new, state of the art hospital in Fergus which opened in August of 2020 and newly expanded ER/Ambulatory Care departments at Louise Marshal Hospital in Mount Forest

The successful candidate:

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for all employee and labour relations activities across our three sites;
  • Fosters a safe and inclusive culture where people feel valued and inspired to do great work. Monitors effectiveness and quality of work/life balance through periodic employee engagement activities;
  • Provides support to the Leadership team on Labour relations, recruitment and other issues;
  • Develops and Leads Organizational Development programs (Leadership develpoment/learning programs, talent management, succession planning, performance management, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion etc.).
  • Maintains Legislative Compliance and Compensation Best Practices in the areas of Pay Equity Compliance, Executive Compensation, etc.
  • Builds mutually respectful relationships with all bargaining agents and groups as Collective Agreements are negotiated and ratified. Oversees the grievance, mediation, and arbitration process;
  • Develops policies and procedures, and implements best practices to support employees at work and ensures a workplace free of violence in every form;
  • Oversees all Occupational Health and Safety activities (including maintaining AODA compliance); and liaises with Infection Prevention and Control;
  • Ensures a robust recruitment service, orientation program, education and training program, and retention strategy is in place, which includes managing compensation and benefit management;
  • Ensures that all employees comply with our Code of Behaviours and their respective professional standards, pertinent legislation, regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures;
  • Supports our Volunteer Associations and auxiliaries at each site;
  • Provides vision and leadership in the integration of various services across WHCA sites and the local health system, as the development of Ontario Health Teams unfold;
  • Provides leadership for operational readiness activities for all services within the portfolio.

Who is the ideal Person?

  • You have a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources Management in a public sector, multi-unionized environment, preferably in an acute care community hospital, and are looking for a new challenge to grow and advance your career.
  • Experience with Organizational Development and Pay Equity is required. 
  • You are described as compassionate, respectful, innovative, professional and collaborative – which align with the values of WHCA. 
  • You hold a Certified Human Resources Leadership designation in good standing and have a University degree in Labour Relations or a related field. You understand the importance of supporting staff across multiple sites and have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

We have three hospital sites which will require you to travel between Fergus, Mount Forest and Palmerston.
