Strathcona Paper LP produces and markets high quality paper-based specialty products and services.  The mill operation is in Napanee, Ontario. We are currently recruiting for the following full-time position:

 

                                           Safety & Human Resources Officer

 

Position Summary

The Safety & Human Resources Officer provides support and advice to managers and employees to ensure that all aspects of Strathcona’s World Class Safety initiatives (policies, procedures practices and project work) are consistent with the business goals, vision and values of the company, legislated standards and requirements. Works in conjunction with the Corporate EHS Director and implements enterprise safety initiatives in conjunction with the site Managers and Supervisors Coordinates the development, implementation and management of programs related to human resource planning, recruitment and selection, training and development and WSIB claims management.

Scope of Responsibility

Reports to the Director of Human Resources

Qualifications

The successful candidate  must possess a degree or diploma in Human Resource Management (CHRL preferred), with a specialty in Occupational Health and Safety or a related degree with a minimum of five years of experience in a safety related function preferably within an industrial setting along with Human Resource management experience.   Must have strong knowledge of the legislation related i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, and other relevant guidelines and apply the concepts and details to the work setting and relations. Must have strong knowledge of the legislation related to Human Resources, i.e., Ontario Labour and Employment Legislation.
