Barrie Food Bank is seeking a committed volunteer Board Member to join our passionate, dynamic Board of Directors. We encourage applicants from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives and lived experiences to reflect our diverse community, clientele, and stakeholders. This member will support Barrie Food Bank’s work and mission and guide its governance responsibilities. Our mission is to provide food relief to individuals and families in our community who are in need and support them on their journey towards wellbeing.

Currently, we are seeking a board member with expertise in, but not limited to, Human Resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD MEMBER (S)

  • Familiarity with the organization’s mandate, vision, mission, and values Review and provide input on policies and by-laws
  • Provide input on the strategic plan for the organization
  • Attend and engage in Board and Committee meetings and contribute to the discussion.
  • Represent the organization in public and private forums Help the organization grow by fostering relationships among our stakeholders, suppliers, funders, and public officials.
  • Respect and treat all matters pertaining to Barrie Food Bank with confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Support fundraising activities as required.
  • Help approve the year's financial budget and review the audited statement 
  • QUALIFICATIONS - Strong working knowledge of human resource policies. Dedication and passion for the work of the Food Bank. Understanding and commitment to by-laws, board governance role and responsibilities Ability to leverage networks and resources to support the effectiveness of the organization. Demonstrates commitment to the organization’s values of Respect, Compassion, Independence and Self Sufficiency, and Service Excellence
