The OAG employs approximately 700 people at its head office in Ottawa and regional offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, MontrĂ©al, and Halifax. Specifically, we conduct independent audits and studies that provide objective information, advice, and assurance to Parliament, territorial legislatures, boards of Crown corporations, government, and Canadians.

 

About this job

Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources, you will provide senior, expert, and strategic human resource operational and centre-of-expertise advice on and services for human resource needs, in the areas of official languages, employment equity, diversity, and inclusion, to clients across the OAG at all groups and levels. 

 

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • developing, recommending, and managing the implementation of legislation, policies, processes, tools, and systems regarding official languages, employment equity, diversity, and inclusion  
  • developing and maintaining effective working relationships with executives, managers, partners, and stakeholders across the OAG
  • participating on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee
  • developing and implementing a diversity and inclusion strategy and action plan
  • consulting with officials from central agencies, other government departments and agencies, union representatives, and the private sector on collaborative approaches for the handling of issues, and sharing information and best practices
  • managing or developing a wide range of human resource documents, reports, INTRAnet and Internet information, social media communications and products, executive documentation, and briefing notes 
  • managing staff (1 student)

Essential qualifications

Education

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resource management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

 

Experience

  • Extensive* experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management** on complex issues related to human resources
  • Experience** in writing and preparing written documents for senior management*** (such as briefing notes, reports, or speaking points)
  • Experience** in establishing partnerships and networks with clients or stakeholders
  • Experience** in developing and implementing programs or initiatives related to official languages or equity, diversity and inclusion

 

* Extensive experience is defined by the breadth and depth of experience generally acquired over a period of 3 years

** Experience is defined as recent and significant experience that is the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of duties on a continuous basis over approximately 2 years within the past 5 years.

*** Senior management is defined as at the director level and above.

 

Language requirements


Bilingual Imperative, CBC/CBC

Proficiency levels: A (beginner), B (intermediate), C (advanced)
