The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Officer in our Brockville Office.
This full-time, permanent status position is responsible for proactively providing support, advice and guidance to managers and employees on their employment related needs, including: recruitment and selection, on-boarding, labour relations, compensation and benefits administration. The Human Resources (HR) Officer is the first point of contact for questions and concerns regarding HR policies and procedures, interpreting collective agreement language and employment related legislation, as well as providing information related to benefits coverage and pension. The HR Officer plays an integral role in ensuring the agency’s human resources practices are efficient and effective, and in compliance with relevant legislation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum post-secondary diploma or university degree in human resources;
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a unionized environment, including experience in the following functional areas: recruitment, compensation, benefits, and HR administration;
- Knowledge of related legislation (ESA, Human Rights, WSIB, MFIPPA, PHIPA etc.) is required;
- Experience working in a unionized environment;
- Knowledge and proficiency in use of the Internet and various computer programs in a Windows environment, using MS Office suite;
- HRIS knowledge and experience required; experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
- Proven ability to work in a team environment combined with excellent customer service skills;
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and demonstrate organizational and time management skills;
- Must be flexible, able to cope with multiple demands, show initiative, good judgement, and attention to detail;
- Analytical skills to effectively problem solve and identify options for consideration, weigh impact on staff and management;
- Ability to deal with conflict and potentially adversarial situations in a professional and competent manner.
Other Requirements:
- Immunizations in accordance with Heath Unit policy;
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check in accordance with Health Unit policy.
