The Vice President Human Resources is a transformative leadership opportunity. The Vice President Human Resources leads the HR team and champions the employee experience, including employment engagement; human resource planning; culture change; diversity, equity and inclusion; leadership development; labour relations; recruitment and retention; and compensation and benefits.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Nova Scotia Power, the Vice President Human Resources has a unique role in shaping the culture of the organization and preparing for the future. The Vice President Human Resources operates with integrity and authenticity and is an influential member of the executive leadership team, supporting operational teams across the organization. They are a natural collaborator who excels at balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders and are motivated to help others succeed within a large organization. They are confident, innovative, and resourceful in creating alignment on purpose and impact. 

The ideal candidate has at least 15 years of experience, with at least five years in a senior human resources role, fostering a strong employer brand and supporting change management in a complex, unionized, multi-stakeholder environment and comfort within an industrial, commercial or operational context. They have a university degree in business, human resources, or a related field; a Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation is preferred. The candidate has played a leadership role in achieving transformational organizational change. A values-driven, caring leader, the ideal candidate has a reputation for developing cohesive, high-performing teams who are committed to service excellence. They are creative with a continuous improvement mindset, known for developing innovative solutions and leading with impact. The successful candidate is adept at capturing and utilizing data and insight to inform strategic and operational decisions and inspire employee engagement across the company.
