Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Employee Experience Specialist focuses on the employee experience from beginning to end. The incumbent develops and implements employee engagement programs and analyzes / reviews current engagement programs.

YOUR ROLE

  • Creates, implements, communicates, and administers employee engagement programs and projects to focus on engagement on cognitive, physical, and emotional levels. Programs and projects include employee recognition, onboarding, town halls, CEO-/ COO-related activities, and employee feedback surveys, ensuring support, administration and communication for employee programs, resources, and tools.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources team to plan, develop, implement, and monitor total well-being initiatives, including programs that create awareness and motivation and provide tools for employee work-life balance.
  • Builds and maintains strong partnerships and connections across the organization to identify and share best practices that support and enhance the employee experience.
  • Collaborates with the Communications team regarding employee engagement on organization’s social media platforms to ensure updates, news and reminders are shared on a regular basis, while also monitoring to address / direct employee questions appropriately.
  • Advises and supports leaders to plan, design, execute, and analyze employee surveys by region, monitor results and provide recommendations on resolution of engagement concerns. 
  • Promotes a positive work environment by implementing policies and facilitating training in various engagement and diversity topics such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Cultural Sensitivity, Awareness Training etc.
  • Provides support to the organization’s recruitment process to ensure a positive employee experience and for the facilitation and monitoring of the organization’s onboarding experience.
  • Performs exits interviews and summarizes results for managers / supervisors and provides recommendations for retention initiatives.
  • Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with other agency staff, families, volunteers, advocates, and employers.
  • Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within DeafBlind Ontario Services’ policies and procedures and provincial legislation.
  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • College diploma in Human resources or related field.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards is an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a human resources capacity preferably in the not-for-profit sector.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of the Ontario Employment Standards Act. Working knowledge of organizational behaviour and employee engagement theory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively convey messaging and deliver training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to confidentially handle sensitive situations with tact, empathy, respect, and professionalism at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, and work effectively within a team and independently. Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel.
