Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior management role provides leadership and agency-wide direction in order to meet the organizational mission and strategic goals. The Human Resources Director will oversee a wide range of HR activities including a focus on employee relations, disability management, WSIB administration, collective agreement negotiation and administration, health & safety, employment equity, organizational development, performance management, talent management and training.
Engaging as a strategic advisor in all aspects of HR this role supports the agency by providing expertise in human resources best practices and by providing consistency in human resources delivery and decision-making. Ensures compliance with legislation and laws by identifying and enforcing legal requirements and develops HR and health and safety policies.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and co-ordinates workplace health and safety activities including co-chair of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety committee and Infection Control lead Responsible for Pandemic Plan and leads pandemic response team Chairs Accessibility Committee and ensures compliance with relevant Accessibility legislation Supports Accreditation and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs Manages volunteer program Provides consultative support to the Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation
The position is located in Brantford, Ontario.
Formal Education:
- Relevant post-secondary education specializing in Human Resources Certified Human Resources Leader designation required Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Disability Management certification an asset Management/Leadership training an asset Understanding of financial reporting and budgetary process Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) to (10) years of progressive experience in HR generalist duties.
Experience in unionized setting required including managing daily labour relations, negotiation and administration of collective agreements, investigation and resolution of grievances and participation in the mediation/arbitration process. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
