Job summary:

The HR Advisor will provide support on a wide range of human resources and employee relations initiatives including, but not limited to performance management, coaching, recruitment, total rewards, learning and development, terminations, HR administration, projects, reporting, policy development and implementation, HR template management, risk and compliance activities, risk management, and research. The HR Advisor is a respected and trusted advisor to leaders and employees on all organizational and employee HR-related matters.

 

What you will do:

  • Provides confidential, responsive, and high-touch service to leaders and employees in assigned client groups in support of strategic and operational objectives;

  • Works in partnership with HR Directors/Associate Directors and leaders to support business planning and organizational objectives;

  • Supports the Director of Employee Relations, Policy & Governance to develop, update, and implement HR policies and with compliance and risk activities;

  • Supports the development, management, review, analysis and reporting of HR-related data and metrics;

  • Provides guidance in the interpretation and implementation of HR practices including appropriate policies, agreements and legislation;

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for relevant HR transactions and business processes

  • Supports the management of temporary foreign worker procedures;

  • Assists in the rollout of the results of the employee engagement surveys and assists in creating action plans;

  • Works closely with the Total Rewards team to support the design and development of accurate job descriptions, job evaluation decisions, and appropriate compensation structures;

  • Participates in various activities during the year-end Total Rewards process including communication, planning administration of the program;

  • Assists management in identifying learning & development opportunities for employees and will work with the HR Director to make recommendations;

  • Provides guidance, support and coaching to hiring managers on recruitment-related processes and all HR matters as applicable;

  • Supports business leaders with offer creation for internal employees pertaining to promotions, transfers, salary adjustments and job changes;

  • Processes entries into the HRIS system (Workday) and partners with HR Technology to troubleshoot issues;

  • Provide support in creating HR documents and templates, including but not limited to Employment Verification Letters, offer letters, termination letters, probationary extension letters, Performance Improvement Plans, etc;

  • Manage select on-boarding / off-boarding activities, partnering with Payroll Information Technology and Facilities as required;

  • Leads/participates in ad-hoc HR projects regularly as required

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

What you bring:

  • Successful completion of relevant University or College program and completion of post-secondary HR or related program is required;

  • A minimum of over 5 years’ experience working in Human Resources in a Generalist capacity;

  • CHRP or CHRL designation is strongly preferred;

  • Experience in supporting a unionized environment is considered an asset;

  • Experience in a similar role within Financial Services/Investment Management client groups is considered an asset;

  • Employee relations and policy experience is considered an asset;

  • Experience regarding temporary foreign workers and immigration matters is an asset;

  • Demonstrated success in quickly engaging with and forging value-adding professional relationships with all stakeholders, including leaders in HR, management, employees at all levels, and external partners and suppliers;

  • Collaborative, solid business acumen, and has a track record of success in delivering value-add results that align with and contribute to organizational and HR success;

  • Advanced knowledge of Workday and the ability to translate data into meaningful information is strongly preferred;

  • Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation is required;

  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is required;

  • Demonstrated data reporting and analysis skills are required;

  • Strong writing skills are required;

  • Strong interpersonal, consulting, and communication skills are required;

  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail is required;

  • Strong professional judgement and ability to deal with ambiguous and confidential situations required;

  • Proven ability to prioritize & multi-task in a fast-paced environment with concurrent projects/deadlines required;

  • Strong relationship-building and consultative skills is required.
