ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

As a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will provide strategic thought leadership, trusted advice and guidance to operational and functional business leaders, effectively collaborating with assigned client groups to deliver strategic human resources programs and solutions aimed at meeting business needs and enhancing the overall employee experience. You will cultivate an inclusive team culture, engaging with your business, providing strategic insights and solutions to people related goals in the organization and driving excellence of HR as a true partner to the business.

In this position, you will be able to identify opportunities, recommend, develop, and implement solutions to assist the organization in achieving its people related goals.  As a strategic thinker, you will be able to take overall business and HR strategies and implement programs and initiatives that will align with these goals.

As HRBP you will drive the adoption of people solutions in all areas of Human Resources and the employee lifecycle, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, employee development, talent management, total rewards, succession management, and offboarding.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment;
  • Partners with the business to assess short and long-term business needs and provide both operational and HR guidance to the business
  • Coaches and advises managers and supervisors, providing direction on employee relations matters
  • Advise on organizational design, long-term succession planning, and short-term workforce planning with the business
  • Work with leadership to ensure the organization is aligned to the corporate strategy, culture, and values
  • Identify levers and develop strategies that measurably improve engagement, equity, inclusion, belonging and retention
  • Subject Matter Expert in all legal disputes associated with employment matters (i.e. wrongful termination, ESA, human rights, etc.)
  • Lead the development and implementation of appropriate career development plans and initiatives for high potential, high performing talent
  • Strategize and plan Human Resources initiatives with leadership
  • Establish coaching and mentoring relationship with People Managers
  • Drive employee engagement and focus on the employee experience
  • Other tasks as may be necessary to support business and people related needs, including LTD/STD, onboarding, recognition programs, performance improvement, promotion, discipline, and terminations, etc.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIITIES REQUIRED

  • Advanced ability to establish trust and credibility
  • Advanced coaching and consulting skills along with a high degree of business acumen and ability to accurately assess business issues and provide sound advice and solutions
  • Strong ability to strategically influence and persuade leaders
  • Advanced relationship management abilities at all position levels
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation including applicable Employment Standards Act and the Human Rights Code within Ontario
  • Ability to understand company-wide objectives and apply detailed HR solutions
  • Occasional travel within the GTA may be required
  • Preferably 7+ years of experience working in human resources, preferably within a fast paced service industry
  • Experience as an HR Business partner in a complex business group within a highly matrixed organization servicing multiple sectors / industries
  • Experience assessing people and business-related issues and developing strategies to resolve solutions
  • A related undergraduate degree or diploma/certificate such as Human Resource Management or Business Administration is considered an asset.
  • Pursuit or achievement of CHRL is considered an asset.
  • Industry knowledge / experience can be considered a substitute for education credentials in the correct circumstance.

  • Participate in the National HR Council and provide assistance as required
  • Collaborate with Corporate support groups to support corporate HR initiatives
