In this new role reporting to the EVP, Human Resources, you will provide leadership to support the ongoing development and fulfillment of our strategic direction, and the alignment and collaboration required at all levels to achieve those goals and build a culture of trust, engagement and achievement. This will include responsibility for providing strategic HR advice and transformational supports and services to enable all people to realize their potential, and accountability for the critically important functions of diversity, inclusion and equity; workplace relations; HR strategy; wellness and health promotion; analytics and reporting organizational development; and HR business partners.

 

As Director, you will build a team and influence others to be committed to excellence, strive to enhance the employee experience, and promote a culture that can be characterized as trusting, caring and engaging, where all team members can thrive and take pride in being responsible and accountable, and where collaboration, professionalism and ethical conduct are counted on. Driven to elevate the support provided by Human Resources, you will model a service mindset to leaders across the organization in their pursuit of best patient care and a people-first workplace.

 

More specifically, as Director of Culture and HR Advisory Services, you will:

 

  • Lead the organization in designing and implementing key HR strategies and practices that are necessary to attract, manage, engage and retain a superior workforce, and aligned with the purpose, vision and values of Niagara Health. Programs are aligned with legislation and based on best industry practice. Build trusting, strong, collaborative, and respectful partnerships with organizational leaders through the design and implementation of an HR Business Partner model. Model a people-first mindset through a commitment to our people and their development, growth and engagement. Demonstrate a professional commitment to building a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace. Provide leadership to a diverse team of human resources professionals skilled in management and service delivery. Support the achievement of the goals of the HR plan by leading key initiatives and aligning organizational activity to them. Evaluate and expand approaches to recruit and retain a highly talented and engaged workforce and cultivate a compelling employer brand for NH, both inside and outside the walls of the hospital, aligning all aspects of the organization around the vision and values of the organization. Modernize the approach to HR service delivery and transform HR policies and processes to establish reliable, efficient, easy-to-use services that leverage data and analytics to support decision-making, better anticipate workforce needs and expand access to services, enabled by HR information technology and HR processes. Look for synergies between areas of accountability to streamline processes and improve access. Partner with HR managers and Organizational Development to drive performance through analysis and performance improvement methodologies. Provide ongoing stewardship to the organizational design of NH, ensuring organizational structures support effective decision-making and high performance. Provide strategic oversight to a fair, competitive total rewards program that is also cost-effective and compliant with legislative requirements and aligned with collective agreements. Ensure ongoing risk identification, evaluation and monitoring. Oversee fiscal responsibility for the function and support the organization's fiscal plans. Continuously develop direct reports, using a collaborative leadership style with an emphasis on coaching, mentoring and leadership.

To join our dynamic team as Director, Culture and HR Advisory Services, you must be a service-oriented HR leader with a commitment to excellence, who can identify bold solutions to complex problems, and whose competencies, skills and attributes include:

 

  • A master's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or a related field. Ten (10)-plus years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources or a related field. Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and associations. Experience in a healthcare, large public sector or other complex environments, with sound knowledge of key areas of human resources, e.g. strategy, organizational development, performance development, workplace culture and engagement, HR services, etc. Experience implementing programs in a complex organization. Knowledge of strategic and operational planning, healthcare system, financial and cost analysis, and trends in the healthcare industry. Strong, well developed business management skills (strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation and analytics). Proven leadership and team-building skills with a personal presence that will inspire confidence and credibility at all levels of Niagara Health. Proven success in gaining credibility and building trust with senior decision-makers. Ability to influence outcomes and balance competing interests. Excellent oral and written communication skills. A high capacity for developing respectful and supportive interpersonal relationships, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a dynamic, professional team. Superior listening skills. Proven ability to lead by example within the organization and demonstrate accountability for personal behaviours and practices. Proven conflict resolution and mediation skills. Tact and diplomacy to be able to operate with sensitive issues and in a politically charged environment. Results Driven Ability to identify bold solutions to complex problems and to capitalize upon new ideas, tools and technology. Demonstrated leadership in executing plans in partnership with various stakeholders. Superior analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

Sound Judgment Ability to balance risks with knowledge and wisdom. Ability to base all decisions on the well-being of patients and families, fiscally sound practices and the organization's vision and strategic goals. Strong conceptual skills, systems thinking and ability to deal with ambiguity. NOTE:
