We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is excited about becoming a key contributor within a dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Pension and Benefits, this role will deliver HR services in the areas of pension, benefits and wellness. You will be responsible for administering the company's benefit plan including extended health, pension and other benefit programs.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

 

  • Perform work in support of the daily operations of the Pension and Benefits plans, ensuring that administrative services are carried out in accordance with established goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire benefit orientation meetings; review documentation for completeness and submissions to providers.
  • Provide answers and support to employees with benefit related questions as first point of contact for resolution of benefit issues.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reconciliations and reporting for benefit and pension programs and month end processes.
  • Administer the POWERflex program for management employees and complete POWERflex enrolment for new hires.
  • Request pension calculations for terminated employees and buybacks from pension provider.
  • Maintain employee benefit and pension files while ensuring both accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Update required systems and programs (ADP, GroupNet, Excel) with employee benefit data.
  • Distribute required information and documentation to various stakeholders.
  • Responsible for a variety of administrative processes including file records management, updating intranet (SharePoint) content, logistical planning, support for meetings and events, review and payment of invoices.
  • Participate in the review and documentation of procedures.
  • Compile statistics and produce reports in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Support the members of the HR team with other administrative tasks.
  • Other duties as required.

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Previous experience in Canadian pension and group benefits administration is required.
  • Experience in US pension and benefits administration is an asset.
  • Experience administering pension and group benefits in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • CHRP and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
  • Strong analytic skills, attention to detail and mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent organization and time management practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, quick learner and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to provide a wide range of information and advice to internal and external clients.
  • Proven professionalism, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS office applications with strong skills in MS Excel.
