In this new, dynamic organization, you, as the HR Business Partner, will report directly to the Director, Talent and Culture and work closely with the leadership team to identify and deliver Supply Ontario’s short- and long-term people strategies through coaching, guiding, and facilitating internal clients’ decisions to ensure successful achievement of business results.

You are the ideal candidate for this position if you have a worked effectively providing advice and strategic support to a new organization, initially in start-up mode, then moving into steady state and continuous improvement.  Your expertise in a broad range of HR functions will contribute to the development of a strong HR framework for Supply Ontario.  You will support the organization’s evolving business requirements with a proactive, positive and equitable approach to people management. You will establish strong relationships at all levels in the organization, have the confidence to promote innovative HR solutions in an evolving business environment, apply sound judgment in potentially sensitive situations and be a trusted advisor to a senior management team. 

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

    Actively engages with leaders to enable business results through consulting and coaching on the design, implementation and evaluation of people solutions that contribute to the achievement of business unit goals and objectives. Establishes strategic partnerships with leaders to create and advance the HR people strategy ensuring it drives both the organizational and people objectives. Partners with the HR team to design, prototype and implement HR solutions that meet the distinctive challenges and needs of the business. Represents HR by participating in strategic planning/decision making and ongoing meetings with the senior management team. Assesses HR policy and/or program effectiveness, identifying areas of issue and recommending opportunities to improve and streamline processes/programs in partnership with the Talent and Culture team Provides project planning expertise to lead and/or manage projects for the implementation of HR initiatives (e.g., culture development and employee engagement, equity, diversity, and inclusion, etc.); works collaboratively to ensure delivery of outcomes and timelines. Engages with leadership to diagnose structural challenges and develops organization strategies and design alternatives that support improved current- and future-state organizational design and service delivery models. Collaborates with the HR team to develop strategic plans for talent management and organizational design strategies and related programs, policies, and services (e.g., talent acquisition, organization development/effectiveness, learning and development, succession planning and performance management). Works with senior management to identify existing talent and talent needs gaps and to identify feeder positions and their competencies, to create and implement strategies to develop talent, close gaps and meet mid-, short- and long-term business requirements. Provides advice and develops succession plans, and the development and coordination of executive orientation/development programs. Collaborates with the HR team and leaders to develop and deliver high impact learning and development programs, and effective total rewards strategies that drive business results and talent retention and attraction. Assists the Total Rewards and Compensation Lead in the execution of the annual performance management cycle for senior management. Works with the Recruitment Specialist and external search partners to source and fill all roles with high potential talent. Participates in the recruitment and interview process for management level positions. Partners with the HR team in the development and implementation of strategic change initiatives, including organizational design, assessment and gap identification, communications, and change management deliverables. Provides HR and Occupational Health and Safety related information, metrics, and reports to support long- and short-term workforce planning.  Works closely with the JHSC, recommends evidence-based strategies and programs that support ongoing evolution of a healthy workplace, monitors progress and outcomes of health and wellness initiatives and the impact they have on key organizational initiatives Conducts or coordinates investigations of Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention (WDHP), Human Rights complaints, issues, potentially escalating incidents, or conflicts, interviewing employees and managers as appropriate.  Coaches and develops leaders and managers to deliver people management capabilities. Supports Supply Ontario’s customer service standards, enabling client success and business/continuous improvement activities.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

    Degree in Human Resources, or related degree and relevant experience; professional certification (CHRP) is preferred. Minimum 6 years of experience in a broad spectrum of HR functions with at least 2 years in a consultant/advisor role. In-depth knowledge of HR management best practices, processes and procedures including workforce planning, change management, recruitment, learning and development, performance management, compensation, and succession planning. Knowledge and understanding of the application of HR-related legislation such as Ontario Employment Standards Act, WSIB, Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong trust and rapport with leaders. Strong political acuity: conceptual and analytical skills to identify and assess business requirements. Project management skills: strong planning/organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing work priorities. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
