Job Title: Recruiter

Reports to: Manager, Talent & HR Systems

Primary Job Location:  Central Police Station, 155 King William Street, Hamilton, may need to attend other locations as required. (This is an onsite in person position)

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Salary Range:  $78,171- $91,966 per annum (2022 rates)

Status: Full-Time

The Hamilton Police Service is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Recruiter. Reporting to the Manager, Talent & HR Systems, this position is responsible for providing full-cycle recruitment for both internal and external positions. The Recruiter will consult, recommend, administer and implement service-wide recruitment strategies for all civilian, student programs and volunteer hires to ensure fair, efficient and equitable practices. The Recruiter will also participate and assist with the sworn recruitment process as needed. The Recruiter will participate in the coordination of related events, including but not limited to badge ceremonies, outreach initiatives and job fairs.

Education & Experience

Successful completion of a post-secondary Degree or Diploma in a Human Resources or a related field.

Ability to complete or has completed their CHRL/CHRP designation.

Minimum of two (2) years of previous recruiting experience, utilizing an on-line recruitment system.

Must possess experience in full-cycle recruitment processes. Valid Class G Driver’s license with full driving privileges in Ontario

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of full-cycle recruitment processes, including planning, consulting, posting, screening, interviewing, and on boarding for large volume recruitments. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc.). Possess experience with HRIS and recruitment systems. PeopleSoft experience is an asset. High attention to detail combined with strong written and verbal communications skills to clearly and convincingly express thoughts, ideas and write or create reports and letters. Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication, decision-making and assessment skills. Comprehensive working knowledge of collective agreements, employment legislation (ESA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
