Volunteer Board Members

Bethell Hospice is seeking dedicated, qualified community minded individuals to serve on our Board of Directors. Bethell Hospice is a not-for-profit agency that provides community and residential hospice care to people diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Previous Board experience is not necessary. Our skilled professional staff and trained volunteers walk alongside those who are facing life-challenging illness; supporting them, their families and friends. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many when you bring your skills, commitment and abilities to the Hospice.

We are seeking individuals with leadership experience and knowledge in the following areas: 

• Health/Social Services
• Financial Reporting and Budgeting
• Human Resources
• Stakeholder Engagement

Board of Director Responsibilities include:

• Participating in the development of the strategic direction for the organization
• Monitoring the organization's performance to achieve the vision and mission of Bethell Hospice
• Assessing the financial viability and sustainability of the organization and participating in the approval of the budget
• Preparing for and attending monthly Board meetings; and, participating or leading at least one standing committee of the Board (Executive, Finance or Governance); participating in an annual, full day strategic session
• Preparing/reviewing necessary policy and by-law amendments
• Collaborating with Bethell Hospice Foundation's Board to assist in raising funds for the organization
• Actively contributing to the functioning of the Board

Time Commitment:       ~10 hours per month
