Position Summary

Reporting to the Interim Director, Human Resources, the HR Business Partner will bring a full spectrum of human resource generalist experience to the organization. The focus of the role will be on talent acquisition, labour relations, performance management, and health and safety. This is a true business partner role that requires excellent advisory and communication skills. The HR Business Partner will work directly with Managers and Directors on the interpretation and application of employment policies, the collective agreement, and employment legislation.

This will be a 12-month contract, full-time position working Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

In addition, the role will be responsible for managing projects such as the annual employee engagement survey, trends in the field of HRIS, and the implementation of a new performance management process.

Responsibilities and Related Tasks

Human Resources Activities - 40%

  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, company policies and enhance employee effectiveness and engagement.
  • Enables and facilitates employee relations from all HR related angles, ensuring staff understand any new/updated policies and procedures clearly.
  • Oversees the performance management process, ensuring a consistent approach across the organization that emphasizes individual development and regular coaching and feedback.
  • Partners with leaders to develop performance management improvement strategies, including coaching leaders through the progressive discipline and performance improvement processes.
  • Gathers data and feedback from employees to support the enhancement of HR practices and processes. Participate in health and safety activities as required. Leverage HRIS to effectively analyze data.

Talent Acquisition - 40%

  • Develops, coaches, and assists Hiring Managers on recruitment processes, interview techniques, selection criteria to ensure that quality of hire is maximized.
  • Ongoing review and enhancement of end-to-end recruitment processes, practices, and methods. Works in conjunction with business leaders to understand current and future talent needs based on strategic analysis.
  • Partners with business leaders to proactively build and maintain talent pipelines to ensure that the right talent is available when required.
  • Maintains effective relationships with talent pipelines, internal business partners, and external vendors, while ensuring an engaging and memorable candidate experience. 
  • Explores opportunities to leverage and enhance CHS’ online properties and brand reputation – career site, social media channels and other online platforms.
  • Implements diverse candidate assessment tools and methods – e.g. behavioural interviewing, psychometric assessment, skills-based assessment.

Reporting & Best Practices - 10%

  • Staying current on recruitment trends by building and maintaining a network of contacts in the industry, participating in industry events and professional associations.
  • Establishes a strong understanding of CHS’s business and functional groups by participating in client meetings, divisional update meetings and industry events.
  • Develops and implements talent acquisition projects and processes as part of the broader HR strategy. Proven ability to develop/ monitor talent acquisition metrics and turn insights into value-added initiatives to drive customer value.

Quality and Accreditation - 10%

  • Provides input in the update of HR policies and procedures as required by quality and accreditation.
  • Stays informed of new and revised regulatory requirements.
  • Leads the delivery of the annual employee engagement (Worklife Pulse) survey – includes launch, communication, training and action plan coordination and tracking.

Qualifications

  • University degree specializing in Human Resources, or related Labour Relations is required.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset.
  • 6 - 8 years of progressive HR Business Partner and full-cycle recruitment experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain the confidence of senior level management.
  • Exceptional commitment to customer service with demonstrated ability to build relationships with colleagues at various levels of the organization.
  • Proven capability to source and select top talent, including leveraging multiple talent attraction channels.
  • Knowledge and experience working with recruitment technology and innovative practices (e.g. direct sourcing, pipeline building, career-site optimization).
