 Human Resources Committee Member

 

Are you looking to be part of a rapidly growing non-profit organization that supports our community? We have just the opportunity for you! Urban Roots London is recruiting for positions on our Human Resources committee.

 

Urban Roots London is a non-profit organization that revitalizes underused land in the City of London for agriculture by: 

  • Producing high-quality, fresh produce for the community  
  • Distributing produce locally, directly to consumers and to private and social enterprises
  • Developing agricultural opportunities for the neighbourhood, social enterprises, and community organizations within the City of London 
  • Growing a self-sustaining, urban agricultural model to germinate to new sites 

 

Human Resources Committee Overview

  • The Human Resources Committee is a standing committee established by the Board of Directors
  • The Human Resources Committee reports to the Urban Roots London Board of Directors

 

The primary purpose of the Human Resources Committee is to:

  • Establish organizational policies and procedures surrounding human resources within the organization, providing the necessary governance to ensure they are being fulfilled
  • Ensure human resources risks are appropriately identified and mitigated in the strategic planning process
  • Assist in full cycle recruitment including reviewing hiring requirements, preparing job postings, screening/selection of candidates, conducting interviews, extending contracts, and overseeing employee check-ins

 

Qualifications 

  • Friendly and energetic professional with an interest in Urban Roots’ mission
  • Experience in Human Resources i.e. recruiting, hiring, training, administration is an asset
  • Experience in the development and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

 

Committee Member Expectations

  • Attend and participate in monthly Human Resources Committee meetings remotely. In-person meetings may occur occasionally 
  • Prepare adequately for meetings in order to make informed decisions

 

Time Commitment

  • 3 hours per month, to start as soon as possible. Minimum 2-year term.
