Conestoga College is one of Ontario’s fastest-growing Colleges and a leader in polytechnic education.  To further support this growth, Conestoga is looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to lead a growing team in the strategic coordination of all recruitment and selection activities for academic, administrative, and support staff employees across the College.

The Talent Acquisition team is an integral part of the larger collaborative Human Resources department which includes Human Resources Services, and Employee and Labour Relations. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources, the incumbent will ensure that practices and policies adhere to legislative requirements, employment and common law, collective agreements, and established best practices, while positioning Conestoga to attract and hire top talent.   

The Director, Talent Acquisition will have the opportunity to contribute to co-selection and implementation of robust systems supports, generate talent pipelines in new markets, increase awareness in current markets, and work with an established team of recruitment professionals to further define our employment brand. 

The successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement consisting of both on-site and remote presence.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the subject matter expert and resource on matters regarding recruitment processes, candidate pools and competitive markets
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholder groups and HR team members, providing information and recruitment insights, inclusive of new markets
  • Ensure a deep understanding of the objectives across all departments of the college so that recruitment efforts can be tailored, compliant with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and any other regulations
  • Development, communication, and execution of college recruitment strategy including marketing material and recruitment events
  • Provide reporting and analysis to College leadership to support decision-making
  • Lead a team of recruitment professionals, overseeing all functions of talent acquisition
  • Provide mentorship and opportunities for professional development for the department
  • Use data and metrics to create efficiencies and leverage opportunities
  • Ensures compliance with CBAs, all application legislation, and best practices
  • Resolves escalated concerns and complaints
  • Lead hiring panels for key roles and senior positions
  • Liaison with search firms, third parties and other external sourcing agencies
  • Takes leadership role during application or selection grievance processes
  • Participates on College committees or initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year Degree in Business, Human Resources, or other relevant field is required CHRL designation required Nine years of progressive experience in talent acquisition and recruitment strategies
  • Knowledge of applicant tracking systems and databases
  • Knowledge of unionized workplaces and implications of collective agreements
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and networking skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Well-developed analytical, creative problem solving, and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of diverse professionals
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe 11, including Accessibility features in each program)
