As a member of the Talent Acquisition team, the Recruitment Specialist is accountable for the strategic coordination and execution of recruitment activities for academic, support, and administrative staff within their portfolio according to standard policies, procedures, and best practices. As Conestoga continues to grow, the Recruitment Specialist will play a key role in collaborating with stakeholders to be a value-add partner in sourcing, identifying, and securing candidates for a variety of positions.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement consisting of both on-site and remote presence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies and finalizes vacant positions with stakeholders
  • With input from HR Advisors, assists hiring managers in position review and revision prior to posting
  • Assists in the preparation of job postings using strategic and purposeful language and defensible criteria
  • Conducts market analysis and identifies sourcing and pipeline avenues applicable to the roles
  • Recommends posting sites, job boards, and other avenues
  • Reviews resumes and provides a shortlist of qualified candidates to hiring managers
  • Conducts pre-screening of candidates as required
  • Discusses strategic interview approach (multiple interviews, assessments, testing, etc.) with the hiring manager; provides guidance and advice
  • Participates on interview panels
  • Communicates with candidates through interview stages
  • Plans and participates in recruitment events as needed
  • Ensures communication with Recruitment Coordinators
  • Keeps accurate and defensible records for all requisitions, interviews, and decisions
  • Review and analysis of statistical information

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three-year Diploma/Degree in Business or relevant field of study
  • CHRP Designation is considered an asset
  • Three years of demonstrated relevant industry experience performing full-cycle recruitment is required; recruitment experience specializing in Trades, and/or IT is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of and experience with recruiting internationally educated candidates is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of unionized workplaces and implications of Collective Bargaining Agreements is considered an asset
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills required to manage multiple requisitions and maintain focus on stakeholder relationships and the candidate experience
  • Broader negotiation skills, including active listening, expectation management, and demonstrated integrity
  • Collaborative team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of application tracking systems, recruitment software, databases, Microsoft Office applications, etc.
