Position Title: Human Resources Generalist

 

Reports To: Director of Legislative Services & Clerk

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

The Town of Erin is a vibrant and growing community located North West of the Greater Toronto Area and we are looking for someone to join our team as our Human Resources Generalist. Reporting to the Director of Legislative Services, the successful candidate will provide support to the Director in all areas of human resources while ensuring sustaining a high performing culture, establishing standards and processes for HR related programs. Previous municipal experience in a similar role and the ability to handle confidential issues tactfully and professionally will be key success factors in this role.

 


Position Requirements

 

Education

 

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Human Resource Management Degree, Post Graduate Diploma in HR.
  • CHRP eligible is desired.                          

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of HR experience; preferably in local government. Knowledge and experience with HR related programs including market research, job evaluations, and incentive compensation. Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information. Experience and knowledge with employment legislation (i.e. Employment Standards Act, Human Rights code, etc.) Strong knowledge of HRIS systems.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assists in the facilitation of full cycle recruitment including but not limited to; preparing job postings and job ads, reviewing all candidate resumes, scoring candidates, coordinating, scheduling, and conducting interviews, conducting reference checks, preparing offer letters, extending offers, onboarding and documentation for new hires, and maintain recruitment activity tracking. Assist in the creation of various HR plans. Assist with the implementation of an HRIS system; operate the HRIS system once launched to assist the Director with streamlining HR practices. AODA multi-year plans, accessibility reporting/compliance. Review and update HR Policies/procedures as required. Assess the effectiveness of current policies in relation to the Town’s strategic goals and work with the Director to implement change where necessary. Review existing and forthcoming legislation to determine HR impact on the corporation; make recommendations regarding legislation; and ensure adherence to requirements. Review and update HR records/create checklists etc. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director in accordance with the objectives of the Town.

Working Conditions

 

  • The incumbent will be working primarily out of the Town offices. This position is for a 35-hour a week position. Normal office hours are 8:30am-4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, however the incumbent may be required to work outside of normal business hours. Proof of full vaccination against covid-19 is required.
