The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions.  The YRDSB implemented Working From Home Guidelines to facilitate this work option.

In compliance with Board policies and procedures, is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the return to work of ill and/or injured employees in compliance with Board policies, procedures, related legislation and the disability management program. Serves as a resource for employees, supervisors, unions/federations by providing information and supporting all parties with respect to the disability management process.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To create and develop middleware programs including research, writing specs, creating tests cases and testing programs in relation to changes in the collective agreements and program enhancements.
  • To assist in analyzing and rectifying errors, includes those identified by nightly middleware programs and STAR system entries by administration staff.
  • To assist in the development of and ability to conduct training sessions for STAR system users, including Secretaries, Education Assistants, Designated Early Childhood Educators and Occasional Teachers.
  • To support STAR Operators and other employees by providing system training and documentation including on-going problem support.
  • To create and maintain all Preferred Lists in the STAR system.
  • To adjust sick leave balances in ROSS.
  • To assist with the development of user training and support documentation in the use of STAR.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.  

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:          

Responsible to the Supervisor, STAR System. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A two year college diploma in human resources management or a related discipline is required or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
  • Minimum two years in the use of human resources software programs or related experience is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, customer service and computer skills including HRIS are required.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.

Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members:

As per the Collective Agreement (A.11.7 and A.11.8), those twelve month employees filling vacancies as a result of a job posting are to remain twelve months at their positions.   Ten month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. Each application submitted for a job posting will be reviewed, although consideration may be impacted by Articles A.11.7 and A.11.8.
