Navigator, Canada’s leading high-stakes public strategy and communications firm, is growing.

The successful candidate will meld talent recruitment, development and retention with a portfolio of client work that deals with human resources and change management, leading interdisciplinary teams of public affairs professionals in providing strategy and communications advice to clients in the private, public and non-profit sectors.

As Head of Talent, your practice will include advising organizations and individuals confronting high-profile and complex situations, typically involving substantial reputational and legal risk. While the role does not involve providing HR advice to clients, you will regularly work collaboratively with clients to formulate strategic communications advice that aims to integrate reputational and human resourcing strategy.

Navigator’s advisory services include crisis communications planning and response, public affairs campaigns, reputation , financial communications, and government relations.

The successful candidate will also lead Navigator’s own talent portfolio.

Responsibilities:

1. Public Affairs Consulting

  • Provide integrated, strategic communications and advisory support to directors and c-suite decision-makers as a trusted advisor
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams of Navigator professionals (including strategic communicators, public opinion researchers, digital practitioners and creatives) in the development and delivery of strategic communications and public affairs advice to Canadian and international clients in the private, public and non-profit sectors
  • Work in close collaboration with clients on high-profile matters (e.g. headcount changes, restructuring, corporate transactions, HR investigations, labour negotiations) to develop and execute communications and reputation management strategies
  • Manage multiple complex client relationships, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work on time and budget
  • Identify and create opportunities for new business development with both new and existing clients
  • Understand, embody and promote the firm’s culture and way of doing business

2. Talent acquisition, retention, and progression

  • Lead Navigator’s talent attraction, retention and engagement portfolio
  • Ensure Navigator remains the employer of choice
  • Partner with senior leaders in the business to identify organizational talent priorities
  • Strategically manage talent acquisition investments and the overall budget for compensation
  • Oversee Navigator's colleague review and feedback process

Qualifications:

  • Fifteen or more years of relevant experience in talent acquisition and retention, performance management, and people strategy
  • Superior written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously
