The UWindsor campus is home to a medical program offered by Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Manager, Talent Acquisition and Recruitment supports the Talent Acquisition and Retention portfolio by managing the day-to-day recruitment and hiring process for unionized staff, managerial positions and non-academic senior positions that aligns to and enables the overall organizational and people strategies, including the University’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization.

 

 

 

The incumbent acts as the subject matter expert, and leader to ensure all talent and recruitment workflows are in place and aligned with best practice, including focus on measurement of results. The incumbent also administers the recruitment, selection, and onboarding workflows and policies by supporting internal stakeholders (i.e., hiring managers) on strategic initiatives, including providing expert advice around sourcing and recruitment opportunities.

 

 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Engage hiring leads in the preparation of postings through internal and/or external processes as required for new and transferring applicants including unionized and non-unionized staff
  • Identify opportunities to promote and advertise opportunities utilizing current best practices and in alignment with the EDI, Indigeneity and Decolonization strategies of the University 
  • Coordinates and leads a talent acquisition & recruitment team that focuses on talent acquisition activities for all staff, managerial and non-academic senior leader positions through full cycle of recruitment
  • Ensures the talent and recruitment team’s work effectively in a cross functional, collaborative, and high standards of work performance and service, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the lead administrator for talent and recruitment platform/systems and process
  • Maintain and coordinate the onboarding initiatives with internal stakeholders to create a welcoming and informative experience for new staff at the University
  • Works in collaboration with Total Compensation and Workforce Planning on succession planning initiatives

 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The successful candidate will possess:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a focus in Human Resources, or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in talent and recruitment in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and other HR Systems and tools; including expertise with Talent/Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices designed to recruit a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Demonstrated commitment for promoting and imbedding Indigeneity, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the delivery of strategic talent and recruitment services.
  • Recognize and address equity, diversity and decolonization issues through policy and practice.
  • Understanding of current employment regulations and status, as well as an understanding of protocols in labour practices and collective agreement administration relevant to recruitment.
  • Possess excellent relationship and communications skills, a consultative leadership style, a passion for leading change and transformation.
  • Demonstrated work experience and understanding of coaching models
  • Proven capacity to identify and establish effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team, as well as the ability to collaborate and partner/consult effectively with diverse leadership at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing others, including providing feedback, mentoring, coaching, and assessing performance
  • The ability to always exercise tact and diplomacy while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills in the areas of HRIS systems and MS Off ice (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

 

 

Preferred Qualifications  

 

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
