RESPONSIBILTIES:  Reporting to the Human Resources Manager- Labour Relations and Staffing, the Staffing Officer, Recruitment and Retention supports client group principals and managers with the internal and external recruitment of staff, provides leadership, advice, and support with respect to administering and interpreting applicable collective agreements, Board procedures, and relevant legislation as it pertains to staffing, recruitment, and employee retention.  As a first point of contact for client group employees, the Staffing Officer, Recruitment and Retention supports employees with inquiries related to the internal staffing processes, leaves of absences, salary administration, seniority, training, performance appraisals and other matters related to employment.   

 

REQUIREMENTS:  Three-year post-secondary diploma with a focus in human resources management is required, and a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferred. Over two years of related progressive experience in a fast-paced work environment with recruitment, interviewing, employee retention programs, and administration of multi-union collective agreement provisions required.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effectiveness through use of their strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, time management/organization, process improvement, and customer service skills.  The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain discretion with confidential information; and working knowledge of relevant employment legislation. The successful candidate will also be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Background Check dated within six (6) months of their date of hire as a condition of employment.
