A day in the life…

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition the Learning & Development Specialist will design, and facilitate professional development programs to support an inclusive learning culture for internal talent.

As the Learning & Development Specialist, you will:

  • Oversee the management of Brock’s learning and development programs, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and the people strategy;
  • Plan and coordinate the training calendar annual cycle;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs by analyzing data, gathering feedback, and implementing data-driven improvements;
  • Develop engaging curriculum, learning materials, and evaluation strategies;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, collective agreements, policies, and best practices;
  • Embed inclusion, diversity, and cultural competency practices into the program design and delivery;
  • Foster an accessible and inclusive learning environment by incorporating universal design for learning (UDL) and AODA compliance;
  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor progress and ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner;
  • Contribute to Brock’s learning and development community, sharing insights and best practices.

What you need to succeed…

  • A university degree in Adult Education, Organizational Development or Human Resources Management or related field, or a combination of education and experience;
  • Relevant experience supporting the delivery of learning and professional development programs;
  • In-depth knowledge of the HR function, practices and procedures related to training and development;
  • Facilitation and training skills to deliver in-person, hybrid, and remote learning programs;
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories, trends and best practices;
  • Experience in program development with Blooms Taxonomy, ADDIE model and adult learning;
  • Working knowledge of universal design for learning, instructional design theories and e-learning methodologies;
  • Skilled in project management, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple, simultaneous initiatives;
  • Solid computer competency including word processing, spreadsheet, database, web applications, learning management systems (LMS) and web maintenance, presentation, social media, internet search engines.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS);
  • Understanding of University’s governance models, as well as policy and procedure requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience in a public sector or educational environment;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation;
  • Certified Training and Development Professional (CTPD) designation.

Salary and Benefit Information

  • Job Grade L, Salary Scale: $62,580 - $107,280
  • Target Hiring Rage: $62,580 - $75,000
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefit coverage and tuition waiver.

* The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
