Position Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Location: University of Niagara Falls Canada (Hybrid)
Reports To: Human Resources Director
Direct Report(s): TBD
Position Overview
The Human Resources Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with university and regulatory standards. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Reporting to the HR Director, the HR Manager plays a critical role supporting the overall functions of the HR department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in alignment with university goals and legal requirements.
- Conduct effective, thorough, and objective HR investigations and handle employee relations issues.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and management on conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires.
- Implement and oversee performance management processes, including appraisals, feedback, and development plans.
- Ensure compliance with federal, local employment laws and university policies. Keep abreast of changes in employment/human rights related legislation.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, JHSC and other applicable legislation.
- Identify training needs and create or coordinate professional development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Develop and analyze HR metrics to inform strategic decisions. Prepare and present regular reports to senior management.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
- Oversee the administration of the payroll process to ensure reporting and post payroll records have been reconciled and analyzed.
- Complete compensation analysis on positions and benchmarking
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
- Post Secondary Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of HR Leadership experience, preferably in a higher education setting, coupled with high growth environments.
- CHRL certification preferred
- Demonstrated expertise with the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Experience writing HR policies, procedures and implementing best practices
- Experience in Talent Management, Performance Management, Organizational Development
- Proficient in HR related software such as ADP WFN
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suits (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
