Job Description
Due to internal promotion, we are currently seeking a qualified HR Advisor to join our Corporate HR team based out of our Toronto, Ontario downtown office. The HR Advisor will be responsible for providing guidance and support on all HR related matters to our Managers, Leaders and Staff related to a broad spectrum of Human Resources activities. Join us in this full time permanent role and be a champion of diversity and inclusion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership teams in various locations to execute human resources and talent strategies, providing HR support & guidance as it relates to strategic, tactical and operational issues;
- Act as the first point of contact to client groups, as specified, in the delivery of corporate HR programs;
- Investigate and resolve employee issues, participate in investigations, and ensure documentation is maintained;
- Work collaboratively with the HR Manager to develop, implement and continuously improve HR initiatives, programs, or procedures/processes that drive employee engagement and retention;
- Act as a change agent to support critical business initiatives and support leaders in all elements of effective change management;
- Monitor policies/processes as required to ensure alignment with provincial employment standards;
- Collaborate with Training Coordinator in program development and implementation in support of staff development needs, as well as delivery of local onboarding program;
- Support Managers with performance management, including Performance Improvement Plans, and disciplinary action, and talent management, including succession planning, development coaching, etc.;
- Manage incoming HR Advisor inquiries in collaboration with the HR team as required;
- Enhance relationships with operations/project teams by providing HR assistance and visiting project offices on a weekly basis;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or equivalent;
- 5-7 years Human Resources experience, including a minimum of 3 years in an HR Advisory/HR Business Partner capacity;
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation;
- Previous experience within the Engineering and/or Construction industry, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity, is preferred;
- Ability to evolve in a multi-site, matrix organization and in a constantly changing project based environment;
- Knowledge and practical application of employment standards and employment law in various provinces across Canada;
- Demonstrated pattern of professional development;
- Results-oriented and have a demonstrated strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and time management skills;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
- Sound problem solving and influencing skills, coupled with an ability to understand broad Human Resource issues and resolve conflict situations in a diplomatic manner;
- Solid work ethic, takes initiative, a high respect for confidentiality, and sound professional judgment;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required, advanced knowledge of HRIS systems, and experience within ERP systems;
- Ability to travel (within Canada) based on business needs (<5%).
