Description:

Brannon Steel is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team at the Brampton manufacturing facility. In this pivotal role, you will partner with the leadership team to implement HR strategies that support the overall business objectives of the organization.

 

Position Overview:

The Human Resource Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role involves developing HR strategies, ensuring compliance with employment laws, employee relations, talent management, payroll administration, and fostering a positive workplace culture. The HR Manager will work closely with management to align HR initiatives with business objectives and will be tasked with setting various policies and procedures around key initiatives.

 

Starting salary: TBD

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Remote work: No.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Management: Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy. Act as a strategic partner to management, providing insights and recommendations on HR matters.

Policy Development and Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. Develop and update HR policies and procedures to reflect best practices and legal requirements. Create a clear and fair vacation policy addressing accrual, usage, and blackout periods, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and company culture.

HR Technology and Systems: Explore and implement a new HRIS system with enhanced features such as tracking training, better vacation visibility, and live dashboards and reporting capabilities. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HR metrics and analytics.

Performance Management: Review and refine the performance evaluation system for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring alignment with guidelines and fostering development. Implement a system for tracking and managing performance metrics.

Talent Acquisition and Management: Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract and retain top talent. Develop and implement performance management systems to evaluate and enhance employee performance. Create a program focused on upskilling employees and identifying potential leaders, including a matrix recognizing each employee’s multidisciplinary skills.

Employee Relations and Engagement: Foster a positive work environment through effective employee relations programs. Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. Implement an anonymous and regular feedback system to measure employee satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.

Compensation and Benefits: Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs. Conduct regular reviews of compensation structures to ensure market competitiveness.

Training and Development: Develop and oversee training programs to enhance employee skills and career development. Implement succession planning strategies to ensure leadership continuity.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Develop and implement DEI initiatives to promote an inclusive workplace culture, including training programs, employee resource groups, and regular policy reviews. Celebrate the diversity within the team.

Operational HR Management: Develop a system to accurately track and record all hourly exceptions outside typical scheduled shifts, ensuring compliance and transparency. Streamline onboarding for new hires and ensure a smooth, respectful offboarding process, maintaining positive relationships with departing employees. Develop a recognition program that regularly acknowledges and rewards employees for their contributions, fostering a positive work environment.  

 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices. 

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

10+ years of HR experience.

Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing HR policies, including vacation policies.

Experience in developing and refining performance management systems for both hourly and salaried employees.

Experience in creating talent development and succession planning programs, including skills matrix development.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to handle sensitive employee issues with discretion.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to create and implement effective HR strategies and initiatives.

Proven experience in selecting and implementing HRIS systems with advanced features.

Certifications such as CHRP or CHRL are an asset.
