Summary of the Position:

 

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the HR Advisor provides staff with prompt and courteous responses to their questions related to HR procedures, policies, and programs. This role involves managing full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, health & safety initiatives, group benefit enrollments, and providing general administrative and coordination support for the HR department.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Oversee full-cycle recruitment for all stores, including crafting job requisitions, screening resumes, coordinating and conducting interviews, performing reference checks, and preparing offer letters. Manage the new hire onboarding process across all locations, ensuring a smooth transition for new team members. Prepare employment letters and other related documentation. Assist the Head of HR with offboarding administrative tasks. Address staff inquiries regarding HR policies, programs, and procedures. Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) as a member, including attending meetings, acting as secretary, and supporting compliance audits. Enroll new hires in the benefits program and serve as the primary contact for benefit-related questions. Assist in driving community initiatives, supporting and promoting Novus social responsibility efforts and community engagement activities. Support HRIS  maintenance and process improvements through accurate data entry, audits, and testing of process changes. We currently use ADP WorkForce Now. Maintain employee records confidentially and in compliance with provincial and federal regulations. Coordinate and manage training programs(ie.First Aid, forklift training, etc.) ensuring all employees receive necessary certifications. Track and monitor training certification expiry dates, scheduling renewals and ensuring compliance with certification requirements. Provide general administrative and coordination support for the HR department. Serve as a member of the social committee, helping to plan and execute employee events, activities, and initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture. Other duties involving the HR department as required.

Post-secondary degree and/or diploma, with a focus in HR or related field 3-5 years of HR experience. CHRP or CHRL designation. Experience with various HRIS systems is an asset. Knowledge of employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as HR and H&S best practices. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
