Position Summary for Chief Investment/Mergers & Acquisitions Officer (CIO)

Fulltime

Salary: $420,000.00-500,000.00 CDN

Reporting To: Chairman of the Board  

Team: Executive

 

Role Objective:

This role with be a strategic and transformative partner with the CEO of Iovate and a member of Iovate Leadership team located in Canada. This full-time permanent position is responsible for developing and executing M&A strategies aligned with business objectives and growth targets and maximizing the return on Iovate’s investments while managing risk. 

 

Fluent in Mandarin is preferred.  The incumbent will be required to become fully versed in all Iovate’s financial targets and strategic plans to ensure achievement of financial targets and overall successful corporate performance based on the expectations of the Board and the commitments made to the Board.  Furthermore, this role requires an experienced executive with global knowledge of the international markets that Iovate operates in, as well as potential future markets to identify business growth opportunities. This growth may be achieved through investments and acquisitions.  Therefore, proven experience in successful mergers and/or acquisitions is necessary to support the growth targets for Iovate.  Furthermore, the successful candidate will have proven experience in providing investment advice and developing corporate investment strategies.

 

The successful candidate is required to develop strong relationships with, and between, members of the Iovate Leadership Team as well as all Board members together with promoting a positive and respectful business relationship with a focus on building and growing the Iovate business.  The incumbent will ensure all matters related to Iovate’s investment and/or mergers & acquisitions strategies are reviewed with the CEO and the Board.  As a member of Iovate’s Leadership Team this role will have ongoing communication with the CEO, Iovate’s Leadership Team members and the Board.  The incumbent will encourage and drive growth through investments and identify new business opportunities.

 

Responsibilities (M&A):

  • Identifying and assessing potential M&A targets, including startups and industry related opportunities Conducting thorough due diligence assessments to evaluate strategic fit, financial performance, and risks of potential acquisition targets Leading negotiations and structuring of M&A transactions, including valuation, deal terms, and integration plans Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, sales, marketing and operations, to ensure successful execution and integration of M&A transactions Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, including investment banks, advisors, and other stakeholders Providing strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management and the Board on M&A opportunities and risks Monitoring market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify potential M&A opportunities and threats Leading post-acquisition integration efforts to maximize synergies and achieve strategic objectives Serving as a subject matter expert and thought leader on M&A trends and best practices within the organization and the broader industry Ensure Board is fully aware of M&A strategy for Iovate Ensure Board is aligned with M&A recommendation prior to execution

Responsibilities (Investment):

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive investment strategy that aligns with Iovate’s overall objectives, risk tolerance and longer team corporate plan Assessing marketing trends and economic conditions to identify opportunities and risks Developing corporate investment policies and procedures Managing relationships with investment partners and advisors and providing guidance and insights to Iovate’s Leadership Team Oversee the management of Iovate’s investment portfolio, including asset allocation, risk management and assessing overall performance of Iovate’s investments to ensure the portfolio is well positioned and diversified Conduct thorough due diligence on investment opportunities, reviewing financial statements and assessing risk factors
  • Negotiate investment terms Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize Iovate’s exposure to market volatility and other potential risks Work closely with Leadership Team members to ensure ongoing alignment with the investment function with other teams within Iovate Ensuring Board is fully aware and aligned with investment strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or EMBA Other relevant academic programs that support requirements of this role, i.e. finance, science background, investment Knowledge of the global markets Iovate operates in Experience with identifying and completing successful M&A transactions Proven experience developing and executing successful corporate investment plans and Proven experience in M&A roles with health and wellness or related field Strong financial acumen and analytical skills Excellent negotiation and communication skills Demonstrated track record of successfully executing M&A transactions Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong organizational and project management skills. Strong financial analytical skills to assess investment opportunities, analyze financial data and create and assess investment strategies Skilled at identifying and mitigating potential risks in investment portfolios Expert in assessing risk, creating risk-management plans and assessing the impact of potential risk factors on Iovate’s overall financial health Solid understanding of the global industry investment landscape and remain current of emerging trends, market conditions, competitors and investment opportunities Strong strategy development (short and long term) that will align with Iovate’s overall objectives Assess different investment scenarios and develop effective strategies that maximize returns while managing risk
  • Strong and effective communication skills Proven negotiation skills Ability to develop positive and productive business relationships with Leadership Team members Experience providing business advice and guidance to senior executives and getting alignment with senior executives for successful execution of business plans Experience working with parent company and understanding the expectations of the Board
