The Human Resources Generalist works closely with Managers, employees and members of the Human Resources and Organization Effectiveness team to ensure the agency attracts, hires, trains, and develops the best employees to fulfill the vision and mission of Pathways. The Human Resources Generalist provides expertise and support for employee relations, recruitment & orientation, attendance & leave/ability case management, policy and procedures. The Generalist will also provide support in the area of HRIS data integrity, reporting & compliance, and performance management as required.  

 

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Recruitment and Orientation - Implement recruitment strategies to attract the best candidates to meet organizational needs. Screen and shortlist applicants based on established criteria. Create job offers and complete on-boarding documents during new hire orientation. Employee Relations - Act as a resource consultant to management for assigned client-base on all employee and union/management relations issues. Attendance Awareness - Maintains attendance awareness process, policy, procedures & tools and conducts attendance awareness meetings. Ability Management: Stay at Work (SAW)/Return to work (RTW) - Supports managers in their efforts to assist employees SAW and/or RTW following a medical absence or workplace injury. Coordinates STD, LTD and WSIB claims, liaising between workers and insurance carriers as required to facilitate RTW activities. Leads the Stay at Work (SAW)/ Return to Work (RTW) planning and documentation process. Support the Human Resources & Organizational Effectiveness team and agency in related HR functions such as accreditation, recognition, wellness & safety as assigned and required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/experience:

 

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree from an accredited College or University in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or a related field. CHRP/CHRL designation or in-progress an asset.  Related Human Resources experience. Experience working in a unionized environment. Valid driver's license and access to an automobile.
     

Ideal candidates will also have skills and abilities which include:

 

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present positive professional presence to attract and develop employees. Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel) High degree of tact, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality. Highly organized with effective time management skills.

 

 

The successful candidate must be able to perform the job duties as outlined in the job description.  All employees at Pathways will be responsible for a commitment to safety. Note: Some travel is required for this position, out of town travel may also be required to meet operational demands. Proof of COVID-19 full vaccination, a clear Criminal Check including a vulnerable sector search is required for this position. Regular attendance is a requirement for this position.
