Reporting to the Director of People & Culture you will bring compassion, leadership, and a hands-on work ethic in the fulfillment of your responsibilities. As the Human Resources Officer, you will act as a resource for your fellow colleagues with respect to various HR matters as well as participating in many other Human Resource functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for managers, supervisors and employees providing support in various aspects of human resources including but not limited to employment verification, responding to requests for accommodation, collective agreement interpretation and guidance on labour relations matters
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with local colleges, universities, and community colleges to create opportunities for Sunbeam to be an employer of choice with graduates Full-cycle recruitment for internal and external vacancies including participation in the employee orientation and onboarding experience Attending career/job fairs as a representative of Sunbeam to attract candidates to the organization Coordination of placement student programs and summer student programs Involvement in labour relations activities such as attendance at union management meetings WSIB case management and return to work program development Acting as a resource to managers, supervisors, and staff with respect to various Human Resources matters Maintaining confidential and comprehensive employee files

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must have strong collaboration skills and work well as a member of a small team
  • Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Post-secondary education with emphasis on Human Resources Minimum of 1-year experience in the Human Resources field Working towards or have completed CHRP designation preferred Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation or Human Resources best practices Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is required Experience in a unionized environment, HRIS and Payroll software are definite assets
