About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing HR administration and guidance to both salary and hourly client groups regarding consultation on employee and labour relations, recruitment, selection and onboarding, health and safety, performance management, policy creation and review and maintenance of HR processes. The individual will be required to effectively communicate with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts and possess extensive experience with Microsoft Windows and Office programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a point of contact for supervisors and employees on HR-related questions and issues.
  • Provide support and direction to other staff within the department and assist in overseeing their functions.
  • Participate in conducting Workplace Harassment and Violence Investigations.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and annual review of Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance with all applicable laws/ regulations.
  • Participate in the full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes for new hires.
  • Coordinate suitable training to maintain health and safety related certifications within the organization.
  • Maintain training matrix and training documentation as required by the company and the OHSA.
  • Participate in the Health & Safety system document control; this includes maintaining and updating work instructions, forms, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain all documentation that relates to hiring, training, and terminations of all employees.
  • Monitor and update daily time and attendance, discipline records, and assist with the Corrective Action process.
  • Provide support with hourly and salary benefits and pension plans.
  • Assist with disability management processes including short-term, long-term and WSIB claims for all employee groups.
  • Monitor and assist with resolving outstanding Health and Safety issues.
  • Attend JHSC meetings as a company representative, providing support to facilitate their functions.
  • Assist and participate in Union/CBA relations as necessary.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the manager (purchasing of office supplies, reception assistance, organizing company engagement events, arranging lunches and other initiatives)

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Education and 2 years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Current Member of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) of Ontario.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable employment legislation, including, but not limited to, Employment Standards, Human Rights and Occupational Health & Safety
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) Designation or equivalent an asset
  • Payroll experience an asset

 

Work Location: 159 Roy Blvd, Brantford, ON, N3R 7K1 (On-site, 5 days a week)
 

Hours of Work: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday
