Job Title: Senior HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist
Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, highly experienced Senior HR Generalist with PCP certification to support our leadership team. You will have 7-10 years of experience in increasingly advanced and diverse roles. As a key member of the TACC Construction Ltd team, you will engage in the full spectrum of HR responsibilities and the full cycle within payroll for approximately 350-375 hourly and salaried employees (seasonal fluctuation). Your role will be integral in ensuring compliance with both HR and Payroll best practices, legislative requirements, and maintaining a positive, productive work environment. You will be a proactive, confident SME in all HR areas, and your expertise will be relied upon to support and advise Senior leadership, H & S, and Ownership teams. This is an in-office position, Monday to Friday 8:30 -5pm. A hybrid work arrangement is not offered at this time.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • HR Compliance & Policy Management:
  • Employee Relations & Consultation:
    • Serve as the first point of contact for salaried employee queries and concerns, along with Union members payroll issues, resolving issues in a timely, empathetic, and professional manner.
    • Coach and consult with the Health & Safety Manager and Executive Team on HR matters, ensuring the best practices are followed.
    • Provide guidance on performance management, conflict resolution, and foster a healthy, productive work environment.
  • Payroll & Benefits Management:
    • Oversee the full cycle, weekly payroll ( using Jonas) for salaried and unionized employees (approximately 350-400 employees seasonally adjusted).
    • Manage salaried employee benefits program, including RSP match program and ensuring timely, accurate contributions.
    • Ensure all union reporting is completed accurately, and all monthly government and benefits remittances are submitted on time.
    • Stay abreast of changes in government taxes, compliance, and best practices.
  • Onboarding & Training:
    • Oversee onboarding processes to ensure that new salaried hires are seamlessly integrated into the company culture.
    • Collaborate with management on ongoing employee development, engagement, performance reviews, and compliance training.
  • HR Administration & Data Management:
    • Maintain HR records in compliance with privacy laws and corporate policies.
    • Ensure that all administrative tasks, such as documentation and reporting, are completed accurately and on time.
    • Use advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite products to generate reports, track metrics, and support HR decision-making.
    • Benefits Administration  
  • Proactive Change Management & Problem Solving:
    • Anticipate potential HR challenges and implement solutions before they arise when possible.
    • Maintain an analytical, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving, particularly in compliance and employee relations matters.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certification:
    • HR Certification or related experience (7-10 years in progressively responsible HR roles).
    • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification required.
  • Experience & Knowledge:
    • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with HR best practices, compliance issues, and hands on weekly payroll management.
    • In-depth understanding of HR regulations, including Human Rights, ESA, Working for Workers, Pay Equity, WSIB, and other relevant legislation.
    • Proven track record of building strong partnerships and providing guidance across a diverse, unionized and Salaried workforce.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong communicator (verbal and written) with the ability to influence and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to quickly create ad hoc data reports requested by any member of the executive team for budgets or workforce analysis .
    • Proven experience in onboarding, employee relations, coaching and counselling, and performance management.
    • Ability to pivot and adjust priorities based on shifting needs and urgent requests from ownership or senior leadership  
    • Be able to quickly offer solid HR solutions as situations arise.
  • Other:
